The 2024 U.S. presidential election was won by Donald Trump, symbolizing a remarkable comeback for the former president. His polarizing approach resonated profoundly with a frustrated electorate. Trump crossed the 270-electoral-vote threshold necessary to secure the presidency by winning in Wisconsin, defeating Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump commended voters for achieving a "record-breaking" victory during his victory speech to a jubilant audience in Florida. "You demonstrated historic attendance today," he stated. "This is a victory for the United States, and we will repay you."

Trump's intense, often combative persona, which resonated particularly with male voters in an increasingly divided nation, was a recurring theme throughout his campaign. His supporters were invigorated by his appeals to those who were concerned with national pride, economic security, and immigration. Trump also frequently portrayed Harris as an embodiment of policies that, in his opinion, had undermined America, drawing stark contrasts between the two. The campaign's rhetoric emphasized the stark contrast between the candidates and capitalized on the widespread voter dissatisfaction.

This election was preceded by a campaign season that was both turbulent and historic. Trump is the first convicted felon to achieve the presidency, despite having survived two assassination attempts and encountered numerous legal obstacles. He is the oldest individual to assume office at age 78, and his running companion, Ohio Senator JD Vance, is poised to become the highest-ranking millennial in the government.

Harris has yet to issue a public statement regarding the election results. However, she is expected to do so shortly. Her campaign had initially sparked enthusiasm among Democratic supporters; however, it encountered difficulty in countering Trump's populist appeal in critical battleground states.

Trump will assume office on January 20, 2025, and will encounter a more polarized nation than ever, as well as a variety of global challenges that will put his administration's foreign policy approach to the test.
