Although Super Bowl 59 did not go as expected for the Kansas City Chiefs, rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy made history. Once a Texas Longhorn, the first player from the university to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl.

Worthy scarcely dented the Philadelphia Eagles' massive 34-6 lead, even as Patrick Mahomes pulled in a 24-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. He located the end zone again on a 50-yard pass in the fourth quarter, finishing with eight catches, 157 yards, and two touchdowns. The Chiefs stumbled, though, losing 40-22.

With the Chiefs trading up to chose the speedster who set an NFL Combine record with a 4.21-second 40-yard sprint, Worthy was the No. 28 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Recording 59 receptions, 638 yards, and six touchdowns in his debut season, he immediately had an effect helping the Chiefs land a 15-2 record and the top seed in the AFC.

Kansas City sought to be the first team to win three straight Super Bowls, but they fell short against Philadelphia even with Worthy's legendary effort.
