On Sunday, September 15, 2024, former President Donald Trump faced another assassination attempt while golfing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was discovered by Secret Service agents hiding in bushes with an AK-47-style rifle, approximately 400 to 500 yards from where Trump was located.

The agents acted swiftly, opening fire on the suspect, who fled the scene in a black Nissan. The authorities later apprehended Routh on Interstate 95, recovering the rifle and other equipment, including ceramic tiles and a GoPro camera, from his hiding spot. The FBI has confirmed the investigation is being treated as an assassination attempt.

This marks the second such incident targeting Trump in two months, with a previous attempt occurring in July 2024 during a rally in Pennsylvania. Despite these dangers, Trump remains unharmed and released a statement thanking the Secret Service for their prompt response. He assured his supporters that the event would not deter him from his future plans.

The FBI and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office are coordinating the investigation, with further details expected to emerge. The incident has sparked widespread concern, with both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris condemning the act and calling for increased security for public officials.
