AUSTIN-Austin Public Health started "HIV Ends With You." after four years of rising HIV diagnoses in Travis County.

The initiative raises awareness of the issue and highlights community resources to address it.

Local health officials report a steady rise in HIV cases, making the campaign crucial. Austin Public Health and community partners are offering testing and treatment to address this trend.

"The process at our clinic is fairly straightforward," claimed campaign health professional Cynthia Stuart. The nurse practitioner shared, “HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and hepatitis are tested. A tiny blood sample yields HIV test results in three minutes. We offer oral testing and throat or vaginal swabs if needed. Once available, results are uploaded to the patient portal. Positive or reactive results prompt us to plan treatment with the patient."

HIV treatment has several benefits besides saving lives. The clinic's numerous health practitioners and healthcare workers stressed early intervention and effective treatment.

The "HIV Ends With You" campaign de-stigmatizes HIV testing and treatment and encourages people to take charge of their health and that of their community. The campaign uses educational tools, social media, and community events to encourage HIV testing, treatment, and prevention.

Austin Public Health is committed to reducing new HIV diagnoses and providing citizens with the services they need to stay healthy as the campaign grows.
