AUSTIN, Texas—Thousands of residents and businesses along I-35 were impacted by widespread power disruptions early Monday morning caused by a small fire at the Austin Energy power grid on Middle Fiskville Road.

Austin Energy's outage map indicated that the issue had been resolved by 5:30 a.m.; however, the complete power restoration is still pending.

Austin Fire Department (AFD) is receiving assistance from the Austin Police Department (APD) in implementing road closures in the vicinity to facilitate firefighting operations. APD tweeted that a minor fire at the Austin Energy Power Grid has resulted in road closures in the 9800 block of Middle Fiskville Rd.

Officers are assisting AFD with these closures, which have resulted in a significant power disruption east of IH-35. Although Austin Energy's outage map indicated that power could be restored within an hour, officials have not yet provided an exact timeline for the complete restoration.

The area is still being managed by the APD as personnel continue to address the issue.
