Avride, an autonomous vehicle company headquartered in Austin, has announced a new partnership with Uber to introduce robotaxi and delivery services. As part of the multi-year partnership, which was announced on October 3, Avride's autonomous robots and vehicles will be incorporated into Uber's operations, commencing with Uber Eats deliveries.
Sidewalk delivery robots will commence operations in Austin as part of Uber Eats in the upcoming weeks, with expansions anticipated for Dallas and Jersey City by the conclusion of the year. By 2025, Avride anticipates that its fleet will expand, with hundreds of vehicles joining Uber Eats. Dallas will introduce autonomous ride-hailing services next year.
Dmitry Polishchuk, CEO of Avride, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "We are delighted to collaborate with Uber as we expand our operations and enhance the delivery experience for consumers and merchants." We anticipate the deployment of hundreds of robots by 2025, which will be followed by the introduction of our robotaxi service.
This collaboration is the most recent example of Uber's increasing emphasis on autonomous technologies. The company recently formed a partnership with Waymo to provide autonomous ride-hailing services. Austin residents will have the ability to summon an Uber in Waymo's autonomous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles starting in 2025.
