AUSTIN, Texas- In a letter to parents, Eanes ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Arnett confirmed that a Westlake High School student was arrested on Sunday after allegedly making threats against the school and fellow students on Snapchat.

The school's anonymous Westlake Watch reporting system was utilized by numerous pupils to report the threats. The student's swift identification and apprehension resulted from the school administrators' immediate contact with law enforcement.

"Despite the absence of any indication that the school is under any ongoing threat, we will exercise heightened caution on campus this week," Arnett stated.

Eanes ISD's new police department, designed to enhance campus safety, will be in operation for the first full school year. The district commended the students for their prompt response, emphasizing the significance of community vigilance in preserving a secure learning environment.

As the school year progressed, parents were advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
