President-elect Trump has named Tom Homan as his "border czar." On Tuesday, he will visit the Texas border with Gov. Greg Abbott. Homan was the head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during Trump's first term. He will be in charge of policy for border security at both the northern and southern borders and security at sea and in the air.
The two lawmakers will stop in Eagle Pass and Edinburg on their trip. They will meet with Texas National Guard members and DPS agents stationed at the border there. To show their gratitude, the two leaders will take the time to feed these police and military personnel before Thanksgiving.
Other important people will be at the event, such as Paul Perez, President of the National Border Patrol Council, Steve McCraw, Director of the Department of Public Safety, Major General Thomas Suelzer, and Mike Banks, Czar of the Texas Border. The visit will start in Eagle Pass at noon, and at 3:15 p.m., it will return to Edinburg.
