A special meeting of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board unanimously chose Wynn Rosser as the new commissioner of higher education on Thursday. Rosser, president and CEO of the T.L.L. Temple Foundation, will drive Texas' postsecondary education policy toward access and affordability.

Governor Greg Abbott said, “Dr. Wynn Rosser brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help Texas continue to ensure students have access to quality, affordable education so they can succeed in high-demand, good-paying jobs. Higher education is vital to Texas' economy and workforce. We will empower young Texans and strengthen our skilled workforce under Dr. Rosser.”

Rosser taught and administered at Texas A&M University and led the Greater Texas Foundation for a decade. He earned bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Texas A&M University and an associate's from Kilgore College.

Rosser stated, “Being selected to serve as Commissioner of Higher Education is an honor. I look forward to working alongside higher education leaders to support and strengthen Texas higher education.”

Harrison Keller resigned in July to become the University of North Texas president, and Rosser will follow him. Keller revised the state's 60x30 strategy, now called *Building a Talent Strong Texas*, to have 60% of 25-64-year-olds with degrees or credentials by 2030.

Sarah Keyton was the interim commissioner and will be the deputy administration commissioner.
