AUSTIN, Texas—After a fruitful 12-season career in the NFL, former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy has officially announced his retirement from football.

In an emotional video uploaded to YouTube, McCoy reflected on his voyage, stating, "Football has been my occupation for 37 years." I exerted myself to the fullest."

While at Texas, McCoy was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist and had an exceptional collegiate career, breaking numerous passing records.

From 2006 to 2009, he accumulated 13,253 yards and 112 touchdowns through the air, in addition to carrying for 20 touchdowns. In the 2009 season, his leadership on the field facilitated the Longhorns' most recent appearance in the National Championship game.

The football veteran shares that he will never forget the sensation of guiding his team to the momentous championship game.

Nevertheless, his aspirations were abruptly terminated when he sustained a shoulder injury during the game against Alabama, rendering him unable to return. "I am simply unable to engage in that particular game." "That one, it will always sting," he said.

After his retirement, McCoy is scheduled to become a game analyst for Big Ten Football at NBC Sports. Nebraska will host Colorado at 6:30 p.m. CT on September 7, where he will debut. McCoy expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to transition into this new role and maintain a connection to the game he adores.

McCoy's legacy as one of Texas football's most celebrated quarterbacks, distinguished by his resilience, leadership, and devotion to the sport, will be left behind as he departs the field.

Fans and participants alike will recall his contributions to the NFL and the Longhorns.
