Austin residents looking for affordable housing have a new alternative with the opening of Ekos City Heights on Nuckols Crossing Road. The $42 million facility focuses on seniors and vulnerable populations, demonstrating the city's commitment to providing accessible housing solutions.
More than half of the 179 available units are allocated for households earning less than half Austin's median family income. The complex also offers homes specifically created for people with mobility issues, as well as 10 flats set aside for those transitioning out of homelessness.
Mandy DeMayo, the interim head of Austin's Housing Department, emphasized the project's significance. "This property not only provides affordable housing but prioritizes those who need it most, including seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness," according to her.
McDowell Housing Partners and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation collaborated to develop the Ekos City Heights project, which is managed by Asset Living.
Applications for residency are currently available, and they can be submitted online or at the facility. This is another critical step toward meeting Austin's housing requirements, particularly for its most vulnerable populations.
