The campaign for the U.S. Senate seat in Texas is intensifying as Democrat Colin Allred seeks to unseat incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in a more competitive contest than anticipated.

According to a recent Emerson College/The Hill poll released on Thursday, 49% of voters support Cruz, 45% support Allred, and 6% are undecided. The election remains competitive, as the results are within the poll's 3.1-point margin of error. 950 likely voters were surveyed between September 22 and September 24, 2024, through an online panel and mobile phone texts as part of a poll funded by Nexstar Media.

Cruz and Allred have each acquired an additional percentage point in support since the most recent Emerson poll. The results of other recent polls are consistent, suggesting that a close race is attracting national attention and that both campaigns receive increased financial support.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has disclosed a new multi-million-dollar investment in Texas to enhance Allred's prospects. This represents a significant effort to secure the seat and the $79 million the committee had already allocated for ad reservations.

Cruz, despite being the favorite, is currently engaged in one of his most ruthless campaigns, even though it has been 30 years since a Democrat has won statewide office in Texas. The senator has been vocal about the race's intensity, encouraging Republican supporters to increase their contributions.

Cruz recently cautioned during a Fox News Radio interview with Guy Benson that his campaign was being "outspent badly," which he attributed to the narrowing poll margins. "This race in Texas is a real race." Cruz declared, "It is a serious fight."

Both candidates are anticipated to increase their efforts in what is now regarded as one of the nation's most critical Senate campaigns as Election Day approaches.
