Austin FC fans looking forward to seeing Lionel Messi's magic in person during the 2025 MLS season might feel a bit let down, as the Verde & Black will miss the chance to face the legendary forward once more. The MLS shared its complete 2025 schedule on Thursday, letting everyone know that Austin FC won't be facing Messi’s Inter Miami CF in the regular season.
This is the third year in a row that Austin FC hasn't had the chance to see Messi play, as Austin FC and Inter Miami are in different conferences. The league is growing, which means there will be fewer cross-conference matchups. As a result, the Verde & Black will only get to play against Eastern Conference teams six times in 2025.
Austin FC is set to host Atlanta United, New York Red Bulls, and New England Revolution, while they will also be traveling to take on Cincinnati, D.C. United, and Montréal.
The only chance for fans to catch a glimpse of Messi in Austin will be at the MLS All-Star Game on July 23 if he decides to join us! Although it's a bummer for fans wanting to catch Messi in action, the Verde & Black are all set to keep their thrilling 2025 campaign going strong as they aim for a top position in the competitive Western Conference.
