AUSTIN—Governor Greg Abbott announced on Thursday that the federal government has updated the Major Disaster Declaration to include ten additional Texas counties eligible for reimbursement through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Public Assistance program to assist communities devastated by Hurricane Beryl.

Austin, Brazoria, Colorado, Harris, Jasper, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, and Wharton are the newly approved counties.

They can now access essential financial assistance to fund permanent work, including repairs to public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water control facilities, public buildings, utilities, parks, and recreation facilities.

Governor Abbott shares that, "With the approval of 10 additional counties to the Major Disaster Declaration, Texas communities will be able to access crucial financial assistance to help them move forward in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl."

The governor continues to thank the Texas Division of Emergency Management for working with our federal partners to ensure impacted Texans can rebuild their communities from any damages caused by the hurricane.

The announcement is a source of relief for the residents and local officials who have been working assiduously to reestablish normalcy after the catastrophic storm.

The 67 counties previously approved for FEMA's Public Assistance program, which encompasses emergency labor and debris removal, are now supplemented by the aforementioned counties.

The State of Texas is resolute in its commitment to securing additional federal aid to assist in the recovery efforts throughout the region as damage assessments continue in other affected areas.

Governor Abbott's administration has been actively collaborating with FEMA and local authorities to guarantee a comprehensive and efficient response to the needs of Texans impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
