Austin Faces Cloudy and Cool Christmas, Warmer Weather Ahead

The National Weather Service says that although Christmas Day in Austin was cool and chilly, Thursday night will be brighter. Thursday's low temperature will be around 49°F.

Before it gets warmer, there will be patchy fog after 4 a.m. tonight, with more clouds coming in and a low of 55°F. The winds will change from east to northeast to calm, which will keep the air still.

There is a 50% chance of rain on Thursday, and the night promises clearer conditions with lows near 49°F. It might rain before noon, and then there might be a few thunderstorms between noon and three o'clock. Later in the day, the clouds should clear up, and the high temperature will be close to 75°F.

On Friday, the sun comes out again, which is nice. The temperature rises to 78°F, and there is a light breeze from the southwest.

The weather in Austin will get better and warmer as the week goes on, even if it did not shine on Christmas Day.
