Austin, Texas (AP)—As grape harvest season approaches, Texas wineries will hold various events to showcase the region's growing wine culture. Visitors can assist in winemaking and enjoy the harvest through grape pounding and unique tastes.

Many Texas wineries host grape stomping celebrations for guests. Stomping vines gives visitors a taste of wine manufacturing.

“Grape stomping is not only enjoyable, but it also connects people to the history of winemaking,” said Hill Country Winery owner Jennifer Williams.  Williams shares that, "It's a great way to kick off the harvest season and unite the community."

Wineries offer grape stomping and special tastings of their latest vintages. Many restaurants also offer pairing dinners, where visitors can enjoy multi-course meals paired with vineyard wines.

Chef and winemaker Laura Martinez of Lone Star Vineyards said, "Our harvest dinners are a season highlight." "We love to showcase how our wines complement the flavors of local cuisine."

Live music is another harvest staple at Texas wineries. Numerous places feature local bands and artists to enhance the celebratory atmosphere. Bluebonnet Vineyards event coordinator Mark Thompson said, "Something is enchanting about enjoying wine while listening to live music under the stars." "It creates a unique experience that keeps our guests coming back year after year."

Many wineries provide viticulture and winemaking workshops during harvest season. These classes cover grape farming, wine production, and sampling.

Texas Hill Vineyards vineyard manager Sarah Johnson said, "Our objective is to inform our guests about the dedication and effort that is required to produce exceptional wine."

These types of workshops deepen the people’s appreciation for winemaking craft.

Texas wineries host many activities throughout grape harvest season to celebrate winemaking tourism and the community.

Visitors to the vineyards enjoy the celebrations and help Texas become a top wine destination.
