As Super Bowl LIX starts in New Orleans, Texas will be a strong presence with many former Texas Longhorns and players from the Austin area playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs, aiming for their third championship in a row, will depend on former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy and defensive end Charles Omenihu to help them succeed. Moro Ojomo, a defensive tackle for the Eagles and a former Longhorn player, will work to stop the Chiefs' potent offense and help Philadelphia win its second Super Bowl.

This year’s Super Bowl features Texas-born NFL stars, including former Longhorns. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes from Tyler, TX, is a three-time Super Bowl MVP, while Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts from Houston, TX, is aiming for his first title.

Other Texas players playing are Eagles' safety Tristin McCollum from Galveston, offensive tackle David Johnson from Groveton, punter Braden Mann from Houston, and Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton from Frisco.

With ties to Austin and pride for Texas, the Super Bowl will highlight the state's sports history this Sunday.
