Acting Governor Dan Patrick said on Saturday Texas has sent more than 300 responders to assist in recovery efforts following a catastrophic weather event in southeast Texas.
Over the area, the extreme storms released flash flooding, big hail, strong gusts, and tornadoes. Tragically, at least one person has passed away; communities are now dealing with extensive damage.
"Please pray with Jan and me for the affected families and their communities," Patrick stated in a statement. "Texas state agencies are starting to evaluate the damage while working hard to assist their fellow Texans."
Apart from physical damage, localized power outages have further complicated life for the people. State officials are working to guarantee affected Texans have the tools they need to restore energy.
