Following a night filled with fog, drizzle, and light rain, Central Texas is set to experience a stormy Tuesday as a fragmented line of showers and thunderstorms advances from the Hill Country towards the east throughout the morning. The likelihood of rain has risen to 70%, guaranteeing that nearly all regions will experience some level of precipitation.
Even with the rain, temperatures will remain cool, reaching highs in the mid- to upper 50s throughout the KVUE viewing area. A stalled front from Super Bowl Sunday will persist, maintaining cooler temperatures in Central Texas.
Another round of showers and storms is anticipated on Tuesday night. Although there is no official severe weather forecast, this system has the potential to generate hail, strong winds, and localized flooding. Rainfall amounts may accumulate to 1 to 2 inches, particularly in Austin and the southeastern regions.
On Wednesday morning, the storms will dissipate, leading to a short period of warmer temperatures with highs reaching the upper 70s, prior to the arrival of a significant cold front on Wednesday night.
On Thursday, a cold front will lead to a light freeze in the morning, with scattered showers expected later and afternoon temperatures reaching the 40s. Certain models indicate that freezing rain may occur if precipitation begins early and temperatures stay at or below freezing, particularly in the Hill Country.
Travelers are advised to keep a close eye on forecasts, as icing may affect road conditions.
