The Austin Music Awards, the city's biggest music event, is happening again on March 2 at Antone's Nightclub. This is the 43rd year of the event. The event showcases a great mix of nominations, winners, and special guests, celebrating the city's vibrant music scene.
This year's finalists for Band of the Year, Font and Good Looks, will start the night with Touch Girl Apple Blossom, who is nominated for Best Pop. Another exciting part of the event is a jam session that mixes different music styles, led by The Point. It will feature award nominees Beto Martinez (Best Producer), Wyatt Corder (Best Jazz, Best Horns), and Camille Lewis (Best Country, Best Vocalist).
To celebrate Antone’s 50th anniversary, experienced blues drummer Jay Moeller will perform a special set in memory of the late guitarist Bill Campbell and honky-tonk piano player Earl Poole Ball.
Winners of the Austin Music Awards are selected by public voting in the Austin Music Poll, which honors achievements in 53 categories. The winners for 2024-2025 will be announced in the February 28 issue of The Austin Chronicle, just before the awards show.
