Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is requesting the assistance of the community to provide short-term foster homes for 57 animals, including fifty canines and seven barn cats, over the remainder of the week. This is because the temperatures are dropping, which poses a significant risk to animals.

According to Luis Sanchez, the Public Relations Officer at APA!, the shelter's open-air kennels cannot completely protect pets from the intense cold despite being equipped with heaters, blankets, and wind barriers.

For a long time, Jenette Guastdo, a foster parent, volunteered to take in as many animals as she could, stating, "It's just too cold for these babies, and APA! needs all the help they can get."

The Texas Humane Legislation Network reminds pet owners that the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act requires that canines left outside have enough shelter, food, and water. The owners might be charged with animal cruelty if they do not have these things.

More assistance is required despite the fact that 25 animals have been put in foster homes thus far. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, you can visit the Austin Pets Alive! website or come to the shelter to get more information.
