AUSTIN, Texas—Over the weekend, Approximately $25,000 worth of bicycles were stolen from the Lorraine "Grandma" Camacho Activity Center, resulting in a substantial loss for local youth programs.

The theft has left the center's juvenile cycling program organizers in disarray. The stolen cycles were essential to the center's endeavors to encourage cycling among local youth, offering them opportunities for fitness and recreation.

The center's director, Maria Gonzalez, stated, "These bikes were not merely equipment; they were instruments for community development and empowerment." "We are devastated by this loss."

The Lorraine "Grandma" Camacho Activity Center has been a community pillar, providing various programs designed to engage and support the local youth. The cycling program, in particular, has been commended for imparting valuable skills and promoting healthful lifestyles.

"We had plans to expand the cycling program this year, and now this setback is incredibly disheartening," Gonzalez stated further. "We hope the community will rally around us to help recover from this."

Local law enforcement is investigating the larceny and has encouraged anyone with information to come forward. "We take these incidents extremely seriously, particularly when they affect our youth," stated Officer James Ramirez.

Additionally, Ramirez urges the community to remain vigilant and disclose any evidence of suspicious activity.

The center is currently investigating methods to generate funds to replace the stolen bicycles in the aftermath of the theft. Community members have already initiated discussions regarding potential fundraising events to ensure that local students continue to have access to these valuable resources and support the cycling program.
