The catastrophic wildfires in Southern California are affecting many families, including those with links to Central Texas. As flames drew near their La Cañada house, Connor and Regina Hsu recounted the apocalyptic scene. The family retreated to Regina's in-laws in Cerritos before the fires reached their area, but their house is still standing. Edward and Jine Hsu are now providing for their family from a distance in Central Texas with their daughter. Edward remarked, "As parents, we'll do everything we can to help."

Others were less fortunate, such as Altadena resident Taylore Weldon. Shortly before their house was destroyed by fire, Weldon, her kid, and her mother left. Weldon revealed, "I left everything—degrees, passports, photos, and jewelry." Our task now is to begin anew. It is heartbreaking.

Both families are optimistic despite the losses. Weldon remarked, "This gives me a new perspective," as he considered the transience of material belongings.

Organizations that provide relief are stepping forward. The American Red Cross is prepared with volunteers, and the California Fire Foundation and World Central Kitchen are contributing supplies. In the meantime, Weldon's family has set up a GoFundMe to provide immediate assistance for their recuperation.

Verified contribution centers that offer disaster relief funds and meal distribution initiatives are accessible to anyone looking for ways to support wildfire victims.
